As the Korea Football Association filed an administrative lawsuit demanding the cancellation of severe disciplinary action against current chairman Chung Mong-kyu, the government's demand for disciplinary action until the 3rd has passed. As a result, the court will decide whether Chung, who was a key variable in the next presidential election, will be disciplined or not.
The Korea Football Association said on the 1st, "We submitted an application for suspension of execution to the Seoul Central District Court on the 21st of last month, along with an administrative lawsuit seeking the cancellation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's specific audit." This is a strong expression of intention that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism cannot accept severe disciplinary action beyond the suspension of qualifications demanded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in November last year.

An official from the Korea Football Association said, "It is difficult to accept all the ministry's demands for disciplinary action against nearly 20 working-level employees and executives in a 100-person organization," adding, "We have filed this lawsuit to increase the independence and autonomy of operations required by FIFA."

With the filing of the lawsuit, the Korea Football Association's Sports Fair Committee has decided to suspend its decision on whether to discipline Chung until a court ruling is finalized. As the articles of association stipulate that Chung cannot become an executive if he receives disciplinary action beyond the suspension of his qualification, Chung's qualification as a candidate could be limited if severe punishment is imposed. However, Chung's qualification as a candidate is expected to be maintained for the time being due to the latest decision.

Earlier, the Korea Football Association raised objections to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's audit results, but they were not accepted, and the deadline for demanding heavy punishment was set until the 3rd of this month as the reconsideration was rejected last month.

However, other presidential candidates are also strongly opposed to Chung. Former national team coach Huh Jung-moo and Myungji University professor Shin Moon-sun have strongly advocated for disciplinary action against Chung within the deadline. Professor Shin said, "The Korea Football Association is filing an administrative lawsuit to avoid disciplinary action against Chung and hold an election," adding, "It is a trick for the election."

The KFA presidential election has already been postponed once. The election, which was originally scheduled on April 8, was postponed due to Huh's request for provisional injunction against the election, and the re-election, which was scheduled on April 23, was canceled due to the resignation of all members of the election management committee. 스포츠토토

Currently, the Korea Football Association has newly formed an election management committee and is resuming the election process from the ground up. With the administrative lawsuit, Chung's disciplinary action will be decided by the court, which will likely prolong the selection of the chairman.
